Fluorite with Calcite

Description:

This small cabinet sized piece features a predominant, 2.4 cm, sharp, gemmy, colorless cuboctahedral crystal of Fluorite associated with scalenohedral crystals of Calcite (coated by iron oxide) on a thin plate of matrix. This a classic example of the "ice" Fluorite crystals which get their name due to their lack of any color (a sign of chemical purity for Fluorite) and excellent internal gemminess. Ex. Kurt Hefendehl
